SOY & CORN CROPS:

The 2022/23 soybean and corn crops in Rio Grande do Sul should more than double, with the expectation of a favorable climate after the drought devastated grain production in the previous cycle, Emater projected this Tuesday.

The soybean crop in Rio Grande do Sul, which is among the three largest producers of the oilseed in Brazil, was projected at 20.56 million tons, an increase of 124.4% in the annual comparison.

NEW ETHANOL PLANTS

COTRIJAL (pt) and the government of RS signed a protocol of intent for a R$300 million investment in an ethanol plant.  

The industry will have a production capacity of 70 million liters per year and the start of operations is scheduled for 2024. The president of Cotrijal, Nei César Manica, highlighted that the project focuses on the use of winter crops for the production of biofuel, with the full involvement of the region's producers.

Brazil-based CB Bioenergia plans to develop a 10 MMly (2.64 MMgy) ethanol plant in Rio Grande do Sul, according to a statement released by the state government on Aug. 23. The facility will process wheat, triticale and corn feedstock. (ETHANOL PRODUCER MAGAZINE)
