The major producer of soybeans in Brazil.  
 
Ranked 9th in the world in cotton production


Represents 15% of Brazilian Agribusiness Exports (Jan 18)
 
Produces 67% of Brazil's cotton and is ranked 4th in the World.
 
Home to large, vast cattle ranches. A tropical Texas, with room to grow. 
 
30 years ago most of the State was in Mato Grosso (thick forest) or Cerrado (savannah brush).  There were no highways, just dirt roads that were hundreds of kilometers long cutting through the dense tropical forest.
 
Mato Grosso has 230,000 planted hectares of eucalyptus and 65,000 of teak. (2014 Imea)
