IRRIGATION: It is one of the five Brazilian states richest in water. Potential for irrigation of about 4,800,000 hectares according to the state irrigation plan, 15% of the potential of areas for irrigation in Brazil. Half of Tocantins territory has great agricultural potential.
MOSAIC will invest R$ 400 million ($77M) in the north of Tocantins and generate 300 jobs. The company is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. (Feb 2023).
PALMAS becomes, every day, a safer and more sustainable city per the Sustainable Development Index for Cities – Brazil (IDSC-BR). The study reveals that Palmas leads the ranking of sustainable capitals in the North region of Brazil and takes 11th position among all capitals of Brazil.

AG PRODUCTION: The results of the 2021 Municipal Agricultural Production (PAM) survey were released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) this Thursday (15th). With soybeans in particular, the production value of the main crops reached more than R$14.2 billion, with a record growth of 74% over the previous year. The planted area increased by 17.3% compared to 2020, totaling more than 1.8 million hectares. The harvested area also expanded from 1.5 million to 1.8 million hectares last year (17.2% more).
CORN: 325,000 hectares, harvest: 1.5+ million, up 38,6% from last year.
