AG FERTILIZER NOTES:
- ATLAS AGRO: Costing more than R$ 4 billion, Atlas Agro develops the first fertilizer factory in Brazil in an exclusive pioneering project based on green hydrogen.
- CIBRA FETILIZER COMPANY invests BRL 230 million in new factory in Sinop. The unit has the capacity to ship up to 750 thousand tons of fertilizers per year.
- EUROCHEM in the State of Minias Gerais.
AG FERTILIZER NOTES:
- A 10.4% dropped in fertilizers delivered in the direct comparison to 2021. There were 41.07 million tons received in 2022, compared to 45.85 million registered in 2021.
- Mosaic will invest R$ 400 million ($77M) in the north of Tocantins and generate 300 jobs. The company is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. (Feb 2023).
- Brazil is the largest importer of fertilizers in the world. In 2021, it imported 41.6 million tons of fertilizers or chemical fertilizers, an investment of US$ 15.1 billion. Of that total, 85% came from other countries, according to data from the National Association for the Diffusion of Fertilizers (ANDA).
- Of this total, 23.3% came from Russia, according to data from the Ministry of Economy's Comex Stat. This corresponds to more than 9 million tons of the input. Another 3.36% came from Belarus, an ally of Vladimir Putin's country.
- Brazil imports of fertilizer increased 440% from 1998 to 2021.
- Russia is a very important country for the Brazilian fertilizer market, accounting for approximately 22% of the 40+ million tons of fertilizers imported by Brazil in 2021. The Russian representation in the world fertilizer market demonstrates its importance: 2nd world producer of nitrogen fertilizers, 4th in phosphates and 2nd in potassium.
