Land Use:
(Feb 2011)
(Estado de Sao Paulo) |
According to calculations by producers, only 12% of the
state's potential - estimated at 3 million hectares - has
been explored, mostly with soybeans.
Between
2000 and 2009, the area planted increased by 593% against
the national average of 59%. Detail: land prices are
still considered a bargain in the region, despite high
demand.
While in the
southern Brazil a hectare is selling for around R$ 10000, in
Piauí is just R$ 2,000, says Matthew Ribamar, the real
estate firm JRM. "The payment can be divided into three
installment paid over two years," says the consultant, born
Uruçuí.
