Perdigão To Open New Plants 17 August 07
A total of R$380 million (US$ 140 million) was invested in two    plants in Mato Grosso - a chicken plant, Mary Loise, in Nova Mutum previously purchased and renovated by Perdigão and a beef packing plant in Mirassol D’Oeste. 

Soybeans:

- 350,000 hectares under cultivation

- average production 54 sacks soybeans p/ha

- Bunge to build new crusher

Corn:

- 90,000 hectares under cultivation
- average production 60 sacks per hectare.

- planted after soybean harvest (Jan-May)

Poultry:

In expansion.  Perdigão will be slaughtering 148,000 chickens by the first of 2007; 248,000 by 2008

Land:

Cash price for cleared and producing land is R$7,000 ha. (Dec 2007)  Argentineans have entered the NM land market.
