Soybean Planting
Begins in Mato Grosso
This video was taken at Lucas do Rio Verde county in Mato Grosso.
The planting of soybeans started on Sept 16th. The rains have
started early this year so many producers want to take advantage of
this early start and plant medium maturity soybean varieties -100 to
110 day cycle.
They will harvest in January and take advantage of strong domestic
soybean bid for early delivery. The cost of production is cheaper
than last season. R$1,100 per hectare or US$ 275 per acre.
When rains come early, the Asian rust pressure tends to increase.
Agronomists are watching the situation closely.
Mato Grosso accounts for 31% of the national soybean production. |
