Sao Luis -- the most Portuguese style
city in Brazil

The view of the new part (far) and
old part of the city of Sao Luis, northern Brazil, May 6, 2011. Sao Luis, which
was established in 1612 by French and then was colonized by Portuguese, now is
considered the city of the most Portuguese style in Brazil, due to its nearly
4,000 buildings, with Portuguese hand-painted tiles outsides, preserved from the
colony period. In 1997, the historic center of Sao Luis was listed to the UNESCO
World Heritage List. (Xinhua/Song Weiwei)
