Construction launched for another leg of North-South

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be in Petrolina de Goiás today to launch construction of the passage of the North-South coming out of Ouro Verde, Goias, the Star of the West, in Sao Paulo. The president will be in Petrolina at 14:30. The new extension of the railway is 667 km and the cost of construction is approximately R $ 2.3 billion. As president of the Valec, José Francisco das Neves, the works begin immediately. The stretch of railroad, whose work will be launched by the President, will benefit the entire southwest, passing through towns like St. Helena, Rio Verde, and São Simão Quirinópolis, part of an agricultural region and agribusiness which is among the most developed country in terms of technology and productivity. With the construction of this extension, the railway will reach the waterway Paranaíba-Tiete-Parana, reaching the ports of Southeast and South American countries José Francisco das Neves said that the current government was that the railroad took shape."During the Sarney administration, were built 100 km of the FHC, 115 km and Lula, 1100 km," he said, underscoring that the government of Goias has substantial involvement throughout the implementation process of the part in Goiás. Goiás created working groups in order to discuss and propose measures, projects and development programs throughout the area of influence of the railroad. Today, in Goiás, the North-South out of the border with Tocantins and reaches the town of Ouro Verde.
