Two and half hours (220km) southwest of Goiânia by car.

Economic Base: Agribusiness.

One of the most productive ag areas in Brazil hosting several multinational food processing companies. Ranked number 2 in exports in the State of Goiás in 2005.  Ranked 3rd nationally in grain production.

NOTE: The expansion of sugarcane production worries the soybean sector in Rio Verde.  To date, the area planted in soybeans in the southwest region of the State has fallen 5%.  New mill projects would further reduce the area by 15%
