The numbers are impressive: an area of 32,000 hectares contracted for planting sugarcane, grinding rate of 4 million tonnes p/yr, production of 1.8 million liters of ethanol p/day or 360 million a year; storage tanks with a capacity of 20 million liters each; water treatment for 500
p/hour, 105MW/hr electric generation of energy. Company data report that the investments made in the construction and installation of the plant to reach R$ 600 million.

These details were passed by the directors and monitors to visit the guests at the new industrial complex of Cosan company, Plant Jataí, considered the most modern ethanol plant in the world. The event, which took place on November 26, 2009, served to communicate the pre-operation of the plant and was attended by city officials, including Mayor Humberto Machado and Mayor, Euripides Genius of Assisi, partners, producers and sugar cane suppliers and local press.

Opening the program, the restaurant of the Hotel Thermal Bonsucesso, the unit director, John the Baptist Saccomano said: "There are about three years ago, we were summoned by Dr. Ometto Rubens, CEO of the company, to build the a mill and was given the task of choosing a region. Today, we believe we have chosen the region and set up some one who, besides being the most modern of Cosan, we can speak without false modesty, is the latest in world, "he said.

The President of the Cosan sugar and ethanol, Pedro Isamu Mizutani, before designing the institutional video Cosan Group, thanked the partners that made the project feasible, "I also welcome our friend Sergio Ribas, we sold his farm for us to develop this project, which is already a reality, today you will see it actually working. It's a dream we had and come true, a dream that only we could not do, but with you, our partners, which will contribute much for the evolution of this city, state, Cosan and the country. In this endeavor, we rely on the most modern technical equipment and industrial market, as well as strategic partners to ensure excellence required by the company in all its activities. Certainly , you will know the most modern plant in Brazil and the world, has nothing to do with the plants that you already had in the past, totally focused on sustainability and management with the environment and also with the social. It is with this philosophy that came to the state of Goiás, for Jataí "he emphasized.

At the beginning of the visit to the plant, the guests were encouraged to plant tree seedlings in the area of a future forest, symbolizing the company's concern with the valuation of the environment. The construction of Jataí unity began on March 26, 2008 and the plant began production in October this year. The inauguration is scheduled for March or April of 2010, start of next season, with all works of infrastructure completed.

To end the visit, the company offered its guests a lunch at the Hotel Thermal Bonsucesso and distributed as a gift bag containing products from its portfolio of food.
