Kenneth and Levi arrived on Sunday at 1:30 pm. Rested up and went to the Montana Grill for their first Brazilian churrasco.
Monday left at 6:30 am with Leonardo Jacinto, Technical Director of Pivots Sistemas de Irrigação and Gene Whitmer, Gateway Brazil.
First visit was to a fazenda near
Morzalândia, where we visited cattle being raised on irrigated pastures. Had lunch and then proceeded on to
Novo Crixás, where the remainder of the day was spent visiting irrigated pastures. Spent the night at the fazenda. Next morning drove north to São Miguel do Araguaia, crossed over into the State of
Tocantins and arrived in Gurupi, TO around 11:00. From Gurupi, drove to a 690 ha center-pivot farm near the small town of Peixe;
located on the Rio Tocantins. After visiting this farm, we drove to Porangatu, GO, spent the night and the next morning returned to Goiânia, via
Goianésia; a well-developed agricultural area growing tomatoes, sugar cane and rubber. On Thursday, we visited the Fazenda Mirante feedlot and GoiásCarne
meat-packing plant. That evening met with Kory Melby at Piquiras Restaurant. On Friday, had their last churrasco lunch and departed Goiânia for their flight to São Paulo and
on to Georgia. |
